Our singer also played trumpet which he lit on fire at some of our live gigs. We'd close our shows with a Henry Mancini (by way of John Zorn) cover. Our originals had titles based on The X Files, The Jerky Boys and Space Ghost.

Today was the first time in 12 years that I've played one of those songs with my old guitarist. Anne called me up at work last week to tell me that every time she put on the Scissor Sisters CD, Stella would start dancing like crazy. I got the demonstration that night. I wanted to try to capture in one continuous shot the way she danced through the whole song, but as soon as the camera rolls, all bets are off. It's not that much different from Premiere Pro which I was using before, though it's a bit difficult trying to figure out how to do some of the same things in a completely new interface. If I have anybody left who is actually reading/viewing this thing, I'm really sorry about that. Anyone who knows me knows my excuses, and those who don't know me don't need to concern themselves. The fact is, I'm back and I've got some new, yes new, content for your eyeballs and eardrums. Last night I had the opportunity to catch a wonderful show at a very cool venue. Isotope Comics hosted the Ukelele Apocalypse, featuring Just Henry, Five Cent Coffee, and Stella (the band, not my daughter). My dear friend and coworker Amy sings and plays the saw in Stella, and I've finally had the chance to hear her play. It was an incredibly difficult shoot with weird angles, bad lighting, and lots of background noise, but I still think you'll enjoy it.

Click To Play

Technorati Tags: vlog, live music, san francisco, joe jackson

Ween - Dr. Rock

Click To Play

Here's another one from the 5/22/00 show at the 9:30 Club, Washington, DC.

This vlog is not dead, it's just been resting. I've also been busy starting a new blog called Download This where you can find links to stuff that you can download through BitTorrent, including daily Howard Stern shows.
Technorati Tags: vlog, nomeansno, live music

Washington Interns Gone Bad Episode 11

Here's the 11th and final episode of my feature film, Washington Interns Gone Bad. Here's how it all ends. This episode features a cameo by Reverend Billy of the Church of Stop Shopping. We had been in contact with him about doing this scene during a protest against the World Bank, and the last we had heard from his manager was that he wouldn't be at this protest. Lucky for us, he was the first person we saw when we got there. The funny thing about staging a wedding at a protest is that everybody at the protest thinks it's the real deal.

Technorati Tags: vlog, washington interns gone bad, political comedy, no budget filmmaking, capitol hill staffers, reverend billy

Washington Interns Gone Bad Episode 10

Here's the 10th episode of my feature film, Washington Interns Gone Bad. I promise there will be a new one very shortly. All of that stuff is in a pc format and I'm mainly working on my mac these days. But I'm making it easier to switch between the two, and we'll be back to normal in no time. So in the meantime...

This is a little ad I did for MoveOn.org's Bush in 30 Seconds contest. It's not the most original thing in the world. It is the best I could come up with on limited time and no outside help.

Play Quicktime version

Technorati Tags: vlog, bush in 30 seconds, anti-war, anti-bush, moveon.org

Dedicated to my boss

Here's a nice little country song by Ween. While the song itself is about a relationship gone sour, the sentiment is how I feel about my boss. He's an angry little man who derives the only happiness in his pathetic life by making everybody who works for him absolutely miserable. I would ordinarily be wary about blogging about my boss, but on my first week there, the asshole had my domain blocked because too many people were on there to look at pictures of my newborn baby. Way to be endearing to the new guy! And it's all been downhill from there. I relish the day that I quit that lousy sweatshop and can finally tell that miniature petty tyrant the multitude of ways in which he sucks, but for now there's really only one thing to say and that's "Piss up a Rope."

Play Quicktime version

Technorati Tags: vlog, ween, boss from hell

Vau De Vire Society Parade at Vegoose

Here's my first video that I've put together with iMovie on the mac. It's a very simple editor, but for vlogging it seems to do the trick. Almost a year ago, I had the opportunity to go to Las Vegas with San Francisco's premiere avant-cabaret troupe, the Vau De Vire Society. The organizers of the Vegoose festival asked them to put together a cabaret tent, and they put together the coolest show ever with lots of other acts from the Bay Area and elsewhere. To kick things off, they had a little parade through the festival grounds, led by Fishbone's Angelo Moore. But this is the first time that it's available to download. For the tens of newbies out there, this is a short comedy that I made in the spring of 05 for a short film contest run by the local wuss-rock radio station. I heard about the contest and thought that I only had two weeks to get it made, so I enlisted the help of the funniest people I knew and we came up with the concept, banged out a script, rehearsed and shot it all in the course of a week. Then I edited like crazy before finding out that the deadline was actually a month later than we thought. It never did make it into that contest, but it's played in a few festivals to a good response and was even highlighted by Salon.com's vlog. So without further ado, I give you A Guy Walks Into a Bar...

Play Quicktime version

Technorati Tags: vlog, no budget filmmaking, romantic comedy, san francisco

Washington Interns Gone Bad Episode 8

Here's the 8th episode of my feature film, Washington Interns Gone Bad. Labor Day is about the people who fought and died to bring us things we take for granted today. Things like the 40 hour work week, job safety, and the end to child labor and company towns. In this day and age of corporate mergers, outsourcing, benefit cuts, stagnating wages and race-to-the-bottom globalization, it is absolutely vital for workers to continue fighting for our rights. And to drive that point home, here's video of Billy Bragg playing a rousing labor anthem in the lobby of the AFL-CIO building in Washington, DC. Solidarity forever!

Play Quicktime version

Technorati Tags: vlog, Billy Bragg, union, labor day

YouTube has officially Jumped the Shark

Just see for yourself.
Technorati Tags: vlog, YouTube, celebutard
