Taking Pride in Being Ignorant
The other day, Barack Obama hit the nail on the head about your average republican. After they mocked him for days for daring to suggest that we might save some gas by properly inflating our tires, he hit back with something that I've been saying for years...“So now the Republicans are going around — this is the kind of things they do, I don’t understand it — they’re going around, sending like little tire gauges, making fun of this idea as if this is Barack Obama’s energy plan.Taking pride in being ignorant. That speaks volumes. It defines modern republicanism. These are the people who call people who are smarter than them "elitist." These are the people who want to hold science to an ideological litmus test. These are the people who are against doing anything about global warming because they don't like Al Gore. These are the people who know that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 but still use 9/11 as an excuse for us to be in Iraq. And these are people who claim to want to protect our constitution but make a bunch of ridiculous excuses whenever Bush or Cheney or Rove wipe their ass with it. It's so rare for a presidential candidate to so eloquently illustrate exactly what is so completely fucked about the supporters of his opponent. Bloggers like me have been saying this for years. It's nice to be legitimized by a mainstream candidate. If he really wants to keep on with this theme, he should start playing Green Day's American Idiot on the stump. But who cares what I have to say about it? I'm just being elitist. Because apparently it's not fair to use intellect, facts or logic against this batch of republicans. Labels: election 2008 |

post a commentWell said!
The Republicans manage to annoy me even though I'm British.
Keep up the good work!
Tom
My I-Love-Barack-O-Meter went through the roof when I heard him say that.
It's so true, I never thought any political figure would actually say it.
Well written by an elitist bastard!
Huzzah!
The irony is that tire gauges would probably do more to reduce gas prices than offshore drilling, though neither would do much.
