The Art of Kicking 'Em When They're Down

House republicans have perfected the art of screwing the downtrodden, and in an election year no less! The economy is going south, jobs are disappearing, we're getting raped at the gas pumps, and what do these compassionate conservatives do? They vote against extending unemployment benefits. To quote Casey Kasem, "Boy, is this fucking ponderous man... ponderous, fucking ponderous!" What are these people thinking? After flushing trillions of dollars down the toilet of an unnecessary war and every expensive pet project in their home districts, when it comes to Americans who need help through a really bad time they all of a sudden decide to be fiscally conservative? And this is going to help them win what could be their hardest election cycle how? Of course, so much of their base are like the frat boys getting paddled and saying "thank you sir may I have another" but I really hope that at least some of the working class rank and file who are struggling through this recession that supposedly isn't really a recession but really is finally realize that the people they keep voting for don't give a damn about them. Oh, I forget, this is supposed to build character for those rugged individualist types. Aaaaarrrgggghhhh!!!! And if this isn't bad enough, when Americans could most use a drink, John McBush now says that he will veto every single beer. From my cold dead hands, Mr. Senator!

They are so wrong, it gives me a headache just thinking about it.

Did you hear about the Supreme Courts ruling on Guantanamo detainees?

Ada, it always surprises me when that court actually gets something right, and Bush's angry reaction to that ruling filled my heart with joy.

Ya know, I'm a big Casey Kasem fan, and I'm not sure he ever said that...at least, not exactly in that way. Maybe after he had indulged in some special "I can't believe it's pot butter" brownies?

Roxy, those outtake clips are all over the internet, but the best place to hear them is in the Negativland song called U2. You'll laugh hysterically hearing Mr. Wholesome Broadcaster guy having a meltdown because he has to come out of an up-tempo record into a death dedication for a dog named Snuggles. The other best part is when he's going off about U2 because "they're English and who gives a shit!"

What I found even more interesting was Scalia's dissent, too bad I only have one more legal issues class before I graduate, that is one brief I would love to write about.

    Blogger Jason said ... (6/14/08 6:34 AM) :

Scalia is such a vile piece of shit! He would go to any length to try to justify his blatant ideology. And these right wingers have the gall to bitch about "judicial activism" while pointing at their biggest activist judge of them all as a shining example of what a judge should be. It's like when they try to call Fox News "fair and balanced." The levels of bald faced hypocrisy from these people makes my blood boil.
