OMFG Prince at Coachella!
| I don't go to big multi-day multi band shows anymore. I can't deal with such large crowds, extreme summer heat and overpriced bottled water. Coachella always has an amazing lineup, but it's in the freakin' desert and I just am not having that. This year there were a couple of legendary performances. One was Roger Waters doing Dark Side of the Moon and a whole lot of other Pink Floyd greats while letting loose a giant inflatable pig that took a trip around Southern California. And the other was Prince. Besides just busting out a whole bunch of his classics, besides bringing out Morris Day for Jungle Love, he rocked out a couple of amazing covers of both the Beatles and Radiohead! Sure, he's kind of kooky, but he is an amazing musician and performer and this set should not be missed. The formerly nameless one is extremely diligent about protecting his copyrights, so if you want to hear this performance, you better go here and download it ASAP while you still can. This will be on my iPod for weeks to come. Labels: music |

post a commentOoh, look at me smiling out from your EntreCard today! You would not believe what goes on here at night when you are fast asleep....all those naughty Washington interns up to no good! Don't worry, what happens with Roxy stays with Roxy....thanks for letting me "advertise" with you.
I "dropped in" to give you my vote in your Battle of the Blogs and saw your post about the artist formerly known as...Rex and I had the best time a few years back when Prince played Madison Square Garden. Thanks for the tune link...I will download right away!
Roxy
Roxy, I'd advertise on your blog if I could afford it! I've never had the pleasure of catching the artist formerly known as a symbol live, but I've been a fan forever. I was at a garage sale yesterday looking through CDs and a woman held up one of his albums that I wasn't familiar with and asked me if I knew anything about it. My answer was that you can't really go wrong with a Prince album, especially for just a buck.
Don't miss his cover of Creep!
Dude - thanks for posting this. I've been a fan of Prince since his first album "For You" back in '78. (Did I just age myself?) When Purple Rain came out in '84 - I was in college..and the ladies loved that Album - let's just say, my Purple Rain cassette (okay, now I really am aging myself) got as much play time as a Barry White album would have gotten a decade earlier!!!!
Since then, I have purchased all of his albums as CD's and have the entire collection rolling my car. I'm glad you got to see him live. this guy is amazing!
BoBo, Roxy saw him live, not me :(
I was way too punk rock to admit to liking him when I was younger, but when I got older and didn't care about that kind of stuff, I was always a big but casual fan. My daughter was grooving to this show last night. She's 2 and loves to dance and she really went nuts to this one.
Thanks for the links!
