Another Self Indulgent Music Post
| Given that my post on bipartisanship got 23 comments and my music posts typically get zero, I'm obviously not giving the people what they want. But I'm kind of burnt on politics and pining away for the days of playing music live. Yesterday I put myself out on craigslist looking for people to play with (music you pervs, not casual encounters!). I got a couple of promising responses and hope to be dusting off the Fender electric within a few weeks. So here's another video of my musical past. This is one of the final performances of the Washington, DC incarnation of Captain Paradox. The Captain is currently rocking Pittsburgh, PA, but for a couple of years in the early 21st century, we rocked the Beltway. This gig was at the holiday celebration of the local progressive activist crowd which explains why there is the silliest looking hippie mosh pit you will ever see in front of us. One person on YouTube asked if this performance was at a loonie bin. You've just got to see for yourselves. For those familiar with my film of the same name of this blog (and for those of you who aren't familiar... upper left hand column of the blog, people. It's not going to watch itself!), you might recognize both the song and the singer. Labels: film, music, personal stuff, youtube |

post a commentI'm loving it. Seeing and hearing this. But look how long it took ME to get back to it. It's never too late.
SHEEEEEEEEEE'S a Politician!
I'll always love that song :D I have it on my iPod.
Wow! Did you have one of our live recordings? I still have a bunch of those on CD somewhere. My favorite was the show we played right after this one at the Velvet Lounge. We have a soundboard recording of that one. That's the version of Politician that wound up in the movie too.
That's fantastic! At least none of these people will be delivering dipomacy with lead.
I fully understand and appreciate the other posts. That's why my blog is packed with stuff to give me a break.
Thanks for your comments. With your sense of humor, you'd fit right in at our family dinners.
You'd had an .mp3 up once of the show that I filmed back in the day. I edited it a bit to take off the 'oops I busted a string' bit and put it in many a playlist :D I'd love the soundboard version if you'd like to share it.
Erik, thanks! I expect to have a lot more of these kinds of posts once I start playing more.
Kyla, I've got to get you better Paradox stuff. The version you have has Steve on drums.
LOL Steve. AHAHAHAHAH. I wonder if he's still tour guiding :P
Anne and I took his tour one time and he was actually really good. I seem to recall you having a little crush on Steve.
Yeah, I thought he was cute. But given that I haven't thought about him since at least as long as you've lived away from DC, I guess you could say the crush was fleeting. Also, wasn't he a Republican?
Oh yeah, forgot about the republican thing. I wonder if that's why we couldn't gel as a rhythm section.
