Last night, Anne came home from shopping with a special treat, the Run Ronnie Run DVD from blockbuster. We've been trying to rent it forever and it hasn't been in, but Anne just had a feeling that it would be there and went specifically to pick it up. It was ridiculously funny. This movie makes fun of everything... rednecks, reality shows, infomercials, old movies, hollywood, mullets, self help gurus and I'm sure I'm forgetting lots of other things. There's an insanely funny Jack Black musical production number. There's a fight scene that made us laugh so hard we almost puked. There's more cameos than you can shake a stick at. It's too bad this film didn't get a theatrical run and that Bob and David weren't really happy with it (though I have no idea why since it was definitely as funny as any Mr. Show episode). Anyway, if you like your humor on the vulgar side and chock full of goofy references, check this out.
Politics, film, pop culture, whatever I feel like posting is what you will likely find here. Originally started as the production diary for my first film, this blog has since taken on a life and death and rebirth of its own. Come for the opinions and stay for the sarcasm.

Got a half a million bucks burning a hole in your pocket and wondering what to get for that obsessive Beatles fan in your life? How about the record John Lennon autographed for his killer just 5 hours before he was shot? Here's a news story about it, and here's the photo of John signing it.

Technical issues coming up... it looks like after a few years with CI Host, I'm going to be moving on to a better hosting package for less than half of what I'm paying now. I plan on making the switch sometime early next week which could possibly mean a couple days of downtime, though I hope to make it as seamless a transition as possible, especially since I've got ads running and DVD presales going on.

Rightwingnut blog alert: www.adamyoshida.com is the funniest, most over the top, fanatically insane right wing blog you will ever see. If this was written in parody, it would be genius. But the fact that there is no irony whatsoever makes it a little bit scary.

From time to time, I get a random letter from somebody who strongly disagrees with something I've said. Surprisingly, the bone of contention has more often been my views on Metallica than my political views. I got one of those letters tonight and decided to share it with you, my faithful readers.

Kicking up the Washington Interns Gone Bad DVD pre-order drive up a notch, I just bought a text ad on Metafilter. I'll keep posting on the status of that. I'm getting 10,000 impressions which should run for about a week. I think I'm going to look into some other textads and banner exchage programs while I'm at it.
Chasing Bush in England. This site tracks the comings and goings of our "president" as he embarasses our country throughout the city of London, and coordinates people to protest him everywhere he goes. When has this amount of detail ever gone into protesting a single person before?

Michael Jackson is in big trouble again.
Washington Interns Gone Bad DVD Pre-order update: pre-orders are going strong and I'm even seeing some names I don't recognize. But we're not quite there yet. Am I going to have to do a PBS kind of spiel here? We've brought you excellent programming like Washington Interns Gone Bad, which you'll never see on network television, but we can't do it without the generous support of folks like you... blah blah blah But seriously, if you haven't pre-ordered your copy yet, please do it now. I wish I could offer a free totebag to go with it, but you will be amongst the very first people to see this movie in its full digital glory.

D'oh! My blogrolls have been hacked. I don't have time to fix them before work, but I'll get to it tonight. For now, have fun with Meta-baby.com, the site where anyone can add their own content, and edit what others have done. Since anyone can put anything on there, it sometimes can become NSFW.

This rocks! Scamming back the Nigerian email scammers! You know the people who send you the email about how they need to get money out of their country by putting it in your bank account? Ever consider stringing them along and getting them to embarass themselves? Well you're not alone, and now there are several different sites that document it, and even some tips on how you can bait these scammers If you practice baiting long enough you can become a master.

As if you needed another reason to hate Jeb Bush, he had to go and say this: "It looks like the people of San Francisco are an endangered species, which may not be a bad thing. That's probably good news for the country." I've said it before and I'll say it again, the sort of reaction that this city gets from right wing pinheads like Jebby just fills me with a warm sense of civic pride.

Courtney Love, class act.
The Washington Interns Gone Bad DVD pre-order drive is going well. We've sold a few already. I also found that the DVD release is the top story at the Micro Cinema Scene site today. Thanks to all the folks who have already pre-ordered. There's also a big buzz on the WIGB message board today about Elizabeth meeting Quentin Tarantino, who now has his own copy of Washington Interns Gone Bad. She next plans to put one in the hands of Michael Moore!

This sounds like the work of Tyler Durden.
Washington Interns Gone Bad DVD pre-orders are finally here! We're going to need to do some pre-sales in order to finance the duplication, so if you've been wanting to see this movie and want to help support independent self-distribution of underground cinema in the process, now would be a great time to do it. They're just $20 which includes shipping and handling. These DVDs are great, too! Besides the feature length, full frontal assault on Washington politics in all of its digitally remastered and widescreen glory, you get a hysterical outtake reel, an informative behind the scenes featurette, a rockin' Captain Paradox video, plus trailers and chapter selection. Not a dime goes to the MPAA or any corporate distributor. And each pre-ordered DVD comes with a personal thanks from yours truly. Feel free to buy a few. They make great stocking stuffers for both the political junkies and B-movie fans in your life.

This weekend was really bad. REALLY. REALLY. BAD. Anne lost her new job. The dad of the family she was working with for only the last week called on Saturday and told her that they had taken back their old nanny and that she was no longer needed, effective immediately. She had another interview scheduled with a family that she felt really positive about (and which would have paid a little more) and she cancelled it to accept this job because they basically pressured her into making a quick decision and she went for it because it was a sure thing. She wasn't even sure if she liked the parents or the kid. She was filled with anxiety before she started because her last nanny job in San Francisco was so bad that she wound up leaving after about a week. So when she got home after the first day on this new job feeling happy and positive, we thought that finally we were both employed and in good shape. After getting the phone call on Saturday, she was in complete shock. After talking to me and her folks, she posted the situation on the childcare section of craigslist and got a bunch of sympathetic replies as well as one who thought that she had interviewed with the same family while Anne was still working for them. That flew us into a crazy paranoid rage, but that person never got back to us and I think she might not have been for real at all. So after one very happy week of dual employment, we're back to the old grind of getting jerked around. At least I'm still working (knock on wood).

Bush in 30 Seconds update: I've posted a cast and crew call on craigslist since the crew that I had in mind wasn't available and one of my casting choices fell through. I hope I can do this in time to submit it!

Salon has the complete script to the Reagan miniseries that CBS has was planning to show until the conservatives were able to get them to cancel it through a massive whining campaign. I have downloaded a copy and have ideas about a contest where different filmmakers make different scenes in a variety of styles and genres.
Hey ladies, are you single and itching not just to get married but to get married to a longshot presidential candidate? Well here's a contest for you.

So as of today, the Buckley's are both gainfully employed! Anne started a new nanny job yesterday and I started a graphic arts job today. Hers is full time, in the city, for an almost 3 year old boy. Mine is part time, in San Rafael, at a specialty construction company. My job is designing, cutting and preparing vinyl glass treatments. I'm using a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator to design, then this program to send it to the cutter. So far, Anne is bonding with the family she's working for, and I'm really enjoying being able to do functional design as well as getting to actually put it all together with my hands.

JPG 2 ASCII! Upload a photo to your web server and use this funky script to turn it into ascii text, like this, now available on a Washington Interns Gone Bad T-shirt. (via metafilter)
Liberal media? CBS pulls the plug on their Reagan miniseries because an angry mob of rightwingnuts whined loudly enough. Aparently it didn't portray him as heroic and godly as they think he is and they had a mass conniption fit over it. Even some members of congress had written to the network asking for this miniseries to be more fair and balanced.

Tomorrow the new Tenacious D DVD comes out! It has a full concert, some videos and behind the scenes, but best of all, it has all of the HBO shorts that they did. Here are some videos you can watch while you're waiting for the stores to open.
I have officially kicked off preproduction of an ad for the Bush in 30 Seconds contest. I have a draft script with several different dialogue options so that I can cut multiple versions and have multiple submissions. I've put out some preliminary emails to potential cast and crew.
