My old bands:
First up are two tracks from Captain Paradox, which I was in from
the Fall of 2000 through the winter of 2001-2002. We had to split up
because our singer/songwriter/guitarist got married and moved to Pittsburgh
where he continues to play as Captain Paradox the solo artist. The following
are from our very last show together in January of 2002 straight from
the soundboard of the Velvet Lounge in DC. Here's Captain
Kirk Kicks Ass (which also appears in the Washington Interns Gone
Bad soundtrack) and Sargasso
Sea.
Before I was in Captain Paradox, I was in Dirtpatch from the summer
of 99 to the summer of 2000. I met Russ Henry on an online forum for
Ween fans and we decided to start a band since we both lived in the DC
area and had similar tastes. He brought in his old friend John Wood on
guitar and vocals. We went through some cheesy drum machines and two
drummers before we split up due to Russ and John both needing to be the
songwriting force behind their own bands, both of which are great. These
tracks are from our first gig with our first drummer at a house party
in College Park, MD. Fighting
Rambo Action Man and Evil
Elf.
Long before Dirtpatch, before I moved to Washington in the summer of
96, I was in a band called Fnord. We played mostly dark and moody songs
with silly names and references to Space Ghost, the X Files and the Jerky
Boys. Our stage gimmic was that our singer used to set his trumpet on
fire while playing solos. We split up because our drummer moved to New
Orleans and I moved to DC. Here are some fairly muddy sounding recordings
of Flaming Sam Büca and The
Song that Dare Not Speak its Name.
My blog themesong
A few years ago, a guy named Philip from a blog called swordfight
offered to write and record themesongs for blogs. At the time, I was
running a blog that was a production diary for my first film, Washington
Interns Gone Bad. Here's the
theme he did for me.
Covering Radiohead
Experimenting with Cakewalk Pro Audio sometime in 2001, I whipped together
my own cover of Radiohead's The Bends. Here's
the MP3. I think that was the last time I played with Cakewalk.
George Dubya Genius Mega-mix
Just an assortement of clips of our moronic president sounding retarded
while campaigning in 2000, set to some trippy beats with a Jello Biafra
intro.
Mike Watt does Sleater Kinney
I recorded this at the Black Cat in DC on 10/16/00. During the encore,
Mike Watt busted out All
Hands on the Bad One. It rocked. |
